I love Google!

Fundraising Idea

NOTE: Google disabled this money making feature but now you can post YouTube videos on your site and make money! for more info check out the info here:

Watch this great 1 minute video of the laughing babies:

I easily uploaded this video (which I watched more than 50 times) from Google Video.

Using this Google's video program, anyone can upload video and it can easily be viewed by all.  If you wish, you can also charge people to see your video.  This is where my brain starts churning out fundraising ideas...

These days every school event is videotaped.  Why not use that video as a fundraiser?  Just upload it to Google Video and charge a fee.  I'm sure parents who did not tape an event would be happy to pay to have a video of their child. Or just send a link to the grandparents or friends.  My children's grandparents live very far away.  I'm really bad at keeping them updated with video...  But this would be an easy fix!  Not only will the family be happy but the school can easily raise some extra cash.

It is free to upload a video.  However, if you plan on charging people a fee for seeing it, Google will take a small percentage of the profits.

Hey Google...  Are you reading this?  Can you make it free for nonprofits?  If so, please drop me a line and I promise I'll make a huge 'stink' about it!!!

Another way to use the video to help fundraise for your cause is to produce a really cute "viral video".  By viral I mean that people will really like the video and send it around to their family and friends.  At the end of the video put your web address...

For example here is a video that is spreading like crazy and is even (at the time of this post) in the top 100 of google video:

The video was produced by the Israeli ASPCA.  The only problem is that they did not foresee all this world attention and did not add their message in English...

This is not a direct fundraisers but you will get more people visiting your site and potentially becoming supporters.

Let me know if you used any versions of this technique and how it worked!
