Fundraising Ideas Using Shopping Malls

Note: Not all the fundraising ideas will suit every site! So browse all the fund raising ideas, be creative, and choose the fundraiser that will work best for your site.

Shopping malls

A great way to fundraise is having your own shopping mall.

A shopping mall is a site that has links to many of the most popular merchants on the web.  It is very handy to have links to merchants like the Gap, KBToys, OfficeMax and so on, at one location.  The way this works is that almost all the merchants on the web offer affiliate programs.  Merchants pay back a percentage of a purchase to a website owner that recommended their store.  In essence, all you have to do is put up an affiliated link to that store and if someone links from your site to the merchant you get a cut.

A Mall that Offers Cash Back to the Nonprofit

There are shopping mall sites that offer nonprofits a service where members can shop and a portion of their purchase will be donated to the selected nonprofit.

This is perhaps the easiest way to set up a shopping mall but the problem is that the website setting up the mall takes about half of the profit.

Recommended Charity Shopping Mall Sites:

www.HEARTof.com is a new site that offers the highest cash payback!  This organization will make you a personal page for your organization (here is an example of a mall built especially for the WAMM organization!  This mall is run by great people who care about "making the world a better place"
www.igive.com is a really nice site.  You're cause does not have to be nonprofit to join.

www.SchoolPop.com is perhaps the most popular nonprofit mall.  However, this site only caters to schools and youth orginizations.

Some Ideas

You can ask members what merchants they use specifically through the web and make sure that you are affiliated with them.  For example, some members might work at a big office that regularly buys supplies from OfficeMax.  In that case, I would affiliate with OfficeMax and make sure that member uses the links from your site when they do their next shopping.

If your organization does not have physical active members like a school or church, just choose a few merchants that are somehow related to your cause that your visitor might be interested in.  For example, for a site that deals with animals you might choose just having a link to PetSmart.com and a few other animal related sites.
